I'm feeling just a tad bit loving towards Deviant Art this morning, so humor me while I sing some praises real quick.
Everyone can sit and nit pick all day long about their qualms with any site. Hell, I know of a people who hate sites as big as Google! But rarely, I find, do people sit back and really look at a site and go, You know, for all it's faults, it's a good place to call my internet home.
I've been a member of deviant art for over 7 years now (for those of you who didn't know, I've had one other account before this), and for this time, I've seen it grow by leaps and bounds. Yes, you can argue they push promotional things, but what site doesn't? Not only that, but a website is a business, and like any business, they need to make money. To sit back and expect a marketing team to not create things to generate extra revenue is asking too much, in my opinion. And as for protecting from art thieves and trolls, it should be clear by now, however not right it is, that if you're posting your stuff online SOMEONE is going to A. Hate it. B. Steal it. or C. Hate on you. It's just a matter of fact. Again, not saying it's right, just saying, it's a fact of internet life. And for what it's worth, I think Deviant Art does as much as it can to protect artists. Yes, there is always room for improvement, but for what they're putting out there, it's better than nothing.
Since I've started Beta testing, I realize how much work goes into running this site! They're constantly trying new things, fixing bugs, and attempting to make your online experience more enjoyable. The owners, creators, admins and mods work their tails off, mucking through complaints, reports, and handling art theft. It's amazing how they keep this place a well oiled machine, and I have so much more respect for them.
Not only that, but I've found so many great artists, and met so many great people. I talk to some of you more than my own family, and if it weren't for this site, I never would have gotten the opportunity to do so.
This is all personal opinion mind you. I know other people have their problems with the site, and that's fine, and understandable. You can't please everyone all the time, and we're all different so we're all going to have our own issues. But this Deviant very much loves this artistic home she has found <3

Yeah I guess XD seems like there are a lot of people on dA who complain about how bad it is.. I'm glad I'm not the only one who actually likes it though. XD
<3 I think there are a lot, but you only ever hear the bad stuff, cause usually people talk the loudest when they're saying what they don't like.
